Meet me ... Jess

With over 15 years of experience running one of Melbourne's most vibrant and innovative dance studios (Backstage Dance Academy - now Evolve Performing Arts) I have lived through the ups, downs and in-betweens. From achieving excellence in dance and business to wanting to sell up and move to Mexico, I've managed to develop the skills to survive and thrive. My experience includes starting a studio with 0 students in 2007 and growing it to a studio of over 550 students, building a studio instagram profile of 13.2k followers, managing a studio of 500+ students for more than a decade, and successfully operating recreational, pre-school and pre-professional streams. Most importantly my experience includes leading a team of staff to run the business enabling me to step away from the business (whilst still taking a wage) when needed.

Running a dance studio is fast paced and there is such a small window of time each week that you can dedicate to improving your business. I have tried so many times to learn new things, undertake new qualifications or courses, or read lengthy blogs and articles but it's not practical. I'm passionate about simple, straightforward and useful tips and information that you can implement during existing busy schedule. You might be surprised to know that a lot of what you need is right at your fingertips or right in front of you!

Like a Dance boss is truly my own little passion project. It's my turn to share those tips and tricks with you.
